Aye up,

Been a while (again) hasn't it? Anyway, further to my previous threat on Saturday 28th August I'll be having a crack at the Lakeland Haute trail; 73 miles, 'explore every valley, see every mountain'. Or in my case 'trudge through every valley, avoid every mountain' given the shape I'm in these days. Nonetheless, looking forward to it more than a holiday in a village made entirely from chocolate hobnobs. That might be a lie.

Anyway, here it is:

Image

The stats are as follows:

Day 1 - 10miles 1,969 feet ascent
Day 2 - 12.5 mile, 3,174 feet ascent
Day 3 - 12.6 miles, 3,533 feet ascent
Day 4 - 13.8 miles, 2,870 feet ascent
Day 5 - 11.7 miles, 3000 feet ascent
Day 6 - 11.6 miles, 2,691 feet ascent

(That's according to Anquet rather than Trail's official figures)

So, wish me well and look out for the blog, and if anyone wants the waypoints, I have 'em.

Here's to staggering into Ambleside on ruined stumps,

TG

I quite fancy doing this one, so it's nice to have a guinea pig do a test run. Good luck Tex and let us know how you do or not.

Climb every mountain, ford every stream etc...

I hope Mrs RP gets a new job and then I can nip off and do this one or the Cumbria Way. Probably at short notice when the sun is shining brightly - I don't want to spoil my record
