Hardly long distance but I hope you find this interesting.

During the mid 18th century William Aislabie owned estates at Studley Royal, Laver Banks and Hackfall. He and other members of the Aislabie Family created a picturesque landscape to delight their guests and transported them by carriage and on horseback through this sublime countryside on byways and tracks.

The Aislabie Way follows this circuit through 17 and a half miles of beautiful countryside. Through a magnificent deer park, wooded valleys and close to Fountains Abbey. This is not a particularly challenging route and can be completed in a long (8 to 9 hour day) or there are cross paths allowing you to do a shorter circuit. The views and photography opportunities are such that you might need longer to truly appreciate the scenery.

The project has been supported by the National Lottery, Woodland Trust, National Trust and North Yorkshire Council and the route is described in an excellent free guide by Mark Reid.

The route is to be officially launched on Monday 16th but you can download the guide now.
